Our Open Dressage and Show Jumping Show at Blue Ridge Equestrian Centre was well attended and enjoyed by everyone - thanks all for entering, helping, and supporting.
We're just home from our annual camp at Auchinleck Estate in Ayrshire where we had a great time brushing up on a range of skills, eating and drinking well and relaxing with our amazing members and their horses. Details on our Camp page.
Glenbrae's dressage and jumping teams were at Morris Equestrian Centre in mid-July to represent the clubs at the BRC Area 1 Summer 2017 qualifiers. They did really well and came home with a whole bunch of rosettes!
Our members' night for this year run from April to September. With both dressage tests and show-jumping on offer, these friendly nights are a great way to meet people and improve your skills at the same time. Head to our Join page to sign up to the club if you aren't already a member.
A little drizzle never stopped Glenbrae from putting on a good show! Our latest was on 13 May at Kinneil Estate near Bo'ness where we had some excellent competitors - young and old handlers, riders and horses. Our 2016 Supreme Champion, Debra Rutherford, retained her title. Full details on our Show Results page.
What a gorgeous evening we had for our demonstration with Blyth Brewster where we learned so much about how to succeed at Working Hunter competitions. Thanks to Krys, Hazel and Dawn for being our demo competitors and such good sports, and to everyone who attended. We'll put some pictures on the website soon.
As part of our fund raising efforts to send a team to the Show Jumping nationals competition this year, we held a car boot sale evening on 19th April at Langlands, Denny.
We had a good turn-out and everyone enjoyed themselves despite the evening chill.
Our first open show of the season coincided with the gorgeous Spring sunshine on 25 March and made a great day out even better for competitors and spectators at Blue Ridge Equestrian Centre. Here are the results. Our thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success - from our generous sponsors, our entrants and their supporters, our judges, and to everyone who set up and tidied away.
We spent an informative and very enjoyable evening with Mary Wastie, from Horse Bitting Consultants on 8 March at Stirling Cricket Club. Her knowledge and advice was so useful - thank you Mary.
In February our members went to Ayrshire to visit the incredibly well-disciplined horses and riders of Central Scotland Mounted Police. As well as a guided tour of the stables and getting to hear the stories about each horse, we enjoyed seeing how they are schooled and trained. Our members threw themselves into helping with the training by simulating a riot (easy for them!).
We then had lunch, delicious cakes and a tour of the Morris Equestrian Centre. Our thanks to our hosts at both venues - we had a brilliant day.
Over 50 of our members had a great night out without a horse in sight, when we had our annual club meal at the Beancross Restaurant in late January. The food and the company were excellent and it's nice to know what people look like without their riding hats!
Our Annual General Meeting was held in October at the Beancross Restaurant in Polmont and was well-attended and enjoyed lively debate on our 2017 programme and activities. We appreciate everyone who took the time to attend and contribute.
Our Committee welcomed three new members this year, Leanne McBain, Andrea Spence and Eilidh Wilson, while Hazel Donaldson and Denise Jarvis stepped down. Our thanks to Hazel and Denise for all their hard work on Glenbrae's behalf.
Our annual club prize giving was held straight after the business part of the agenda and our overall Champion this year is Eve Gray. Congratulations to everyone who competed this year.
Finally, can we take this opportunity to say a huge Thank You to everyone who has contributed to our success over the past year including organisers, helpers, competitors and sponsors - here's to an even better year ahead!
